Flexibility is the Key to Happiness

Someone told me that once.  I believe it.  Nothing ever goes as planned, and the best layed plans often go awry.

I feel this is important to remember when someone lets you down.  Sometimes, whether it is intentional or not, people don’t do what they say, or show up when they say they will, or just be there for you when you thought that they would.  This is such a difficult concept to teach to most children.  It can be equally as hard to accept as an adult.

I have been flooded with love and support lately and I feel like my village is as big as it gets.  It is such a wonderful feeling.  I do have some people in my life that have technically let me down. I must clarify.  They actually didn’t let me down because I never expected them to be supportive in the first place!  That is what is so great.  A while back I made a conscious decision to embrace the following philosophy.  “Expectations are pre-meditated resentment.”  If you know someone is not the type to be there…then don’t expect them to be.  This is an amazing feeling that takes a lot of hurt out of your life.

No, it’s none of you. It is no one you know, so don’t try to ponder who attempted to let me down.  I will say this, though.  If you are reading this…then you are for sure one of the many of my village that I thank God for every single day.  Thank you.
